Day 16 - July 17 2005 - Dim Sum

Today was a fun day after the rest of the week-end did not go as I had planned it. Auntie Janet had invited me out for Dim Sum with her and Uncle Jacques. They were bringing friends of theirs and Jacques brother and told me to bring whomever I wanted. Auntie Carol came with me and Kate and Stu came as well.

We had a great time and the food was good. I was full when we were done with it all. After that Auntie Carol headed back to the house. Kate had invited me to go with her and Stuart to see the Blue Man Group at the Panasonic Theatre. Through a martini selling contest at work Kate had won tickets. Kate's sister Ann had told us the show was supposedly really interesting but many people were picketing the show because the company refuses to hire Actors who are part of the actors union.

The show wasn't a play and it wasn't strictley comedy. If I had to describe it I'd say it was a cross between Stomp, Mime and Comedy. Throughout the whole show there is music which is mostly percussion and during the show the three main guys who have their faces painted blue and wear all black play different stage pieces as drums. So the beat they create adds to the band which is situated behind scrim above the stage. It's also an audience participation show. At the back of the theatre are rolls of paper attached to the wall kind of like toilet paper rolls but larger. The last portion of the show the three blue guys go to the back and pull the toilet paper rolls and pass the strands of paper to the audience and the audience in turn passes the paper forward over their heads till it reaches the front of the theatre. While this is happening they have black lights shining and a strobe light going which makes the whole scene seem surreal. It was really neat though. The show was fun but really hard to describe.

After the show the three of us went to Second Cup and I had a fruizzi which is my new addiction. Second Cup's Strawberry/Kiwi fruizzi is amazing! It is the most delicious fruit smoothie I have ever had! So refreshing in this heat too.

Unfortunately after all was said and done Kate had to work so we dropped her off and Stu drove me back to Auntie Carol's. I invited him in for a drink and the three of us ended up talking awhile so Auntie Carol invited him for dinner. So the three of us cooked dinner together. It was a lot of fun!

After dinner the three of us sat down and watched Kinsey. I was kinda ify about watching it because I knew Kate hadn't seen it and wanted to. But since Stuart didn't see anything else that he wanted to watch I went with it. Apparently Kate tells me that Stuart thinks I have too many chick flicks in my collection. HA HA!
